India’s Asian Games showing is respectable, but still far from the standard needed for an Olympic bid
India’s performance at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 is being read in some quarters as evidence of sporting progress, but the deeper verdict is less flattering: respectable is not yet world-class. The country can no longer rely on isolated medal bursts and administrative optimism if it wants to credibly pursue hosting rights for the Olympics. Without a sustained rise in elite performance, infrastructure, and governance, an Olympic bid would be premature.
