RBL Bank Sees Margin Pressure Ahead as FCNR Deposits Flow Through, CEO Says
RBL Bank said its net interest margin is likely to moderate in the coming quarter as foreign currency non-resident deposits fully flow through the balance sheet, even after a strong September quarter marked by sharp growth in profit, lending and deposits. Chief executive R. Subramaniakumar said the bank’s recent deposit momentum, supported by FCNR(B) inflows, is beginning to reshape the funding mix and will weigh on margins in the near term.
