IMD Warns of Heavy Rain Across Five States as Bay of Bengal System May Strengthen by October 15
The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka as a developing circulation over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area, and potentially a depression, by October 15. The timing is significant because it aligns with the normal onset window of the northeast monsoon, raising the risk of widespread weather disruption, localized flooding and pressure on transport, agriculture and urban infrastructure.
